Private Maternity Ward
Our private birthing suite is fully equipped with multifunctional birthing bed, large ensuite and kitchenette to ensure a personal and safe environment for your birthing experience. The room also has a television, radio and plenty of therapeutic tools e.g. birth balls, heat packs and oil burners.
Our private ward known as ‘Bridges Wing’ consists of six single rooms with ensuite facilities, telephone and complimentary television. Whilst we make every endeavour to provide you with your accommodation preference, in circumstances of high activity or emergency admissions, it may be necessary to offer you a shared room and we will aim to transfer you when a single room becomes available.
An a la carte menu is available for all patients and partners and meals are freshly prepared on site (charges may be applicable to partners). You will receive a menu each morning to make your selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special dietary requirements are catered for.
Can my partner stay?
Your partner is welcome to stay overnight (subject to availability). Depending on your health fund there may be an additional charge for this.
It is important partners read the partners code of conduct and be aware that our focus of care will always remain on you and your baby.
Partners Code of Conduct
In choosing to stay overnight, partners agree to be bound to the following:
- Your presence during the hospital stay must not impede the care of your partner or the care of another patient
- Nursing and housekeeping routines will not be delayed e.g. to allow you to sleep in
- Sleeping unclothed is unacceptable
- No sleepwear must be worn outside your partner’s room.
Toddlers and children are welcome to visit but not permitted to stay overnight.
Private Patient Information
If you are a member of a health fund it is important prior to your admission to check with them regarding the following:
- That the level of health fund cover adequately covers the cost of the procedure and accommodation outlined in the pre-admission form (eg. in the case of a postnatal patient, is your newborn baby covered?).
- Is an excess payable for this admission? This would need to be paid prior to your procedure.
- If you have been a member of your health fund for less than 12 months, your fund may not accept liability for the costs of this admission (eg. if your condition or any symptoms of your condition existed prior to you joining). If there is a question regarding pre-existing symptoms, your health fund has the option to obtain details from your GP or specialist.
- Pharmacy and pathology, imaging and x-ray may attract an additional charge.
- Please note that medical and allied health practitioners’ fees may be billed separately by the practitioners.
Payment procedure
- Private patients – the portion of your estimated hospital account not covered by your health fund (e.g. an excess) must be paid on admission. Any additional costs incurred during your stay are payable prior to discharge (eg. pharmacy costs and some investigations).
- Ineligible patients (eg. overseas visitors with no insurance) – all charges will be advised prior to admission date including details of required deposit. Remaining costs must be paid prior to discharge. Your admission may be refused if a deposit has not been paid.
- Other costs which may be incurred during your stay are payable on discharge. Please bring provision for payment of these fees on admission to hospital.
Payment can be made by cash, bank cheque, credit card (except Diners and American Express) or eftpos (please check your daily withdrawal limits).
